A rare Tatar sabre with damascus blade, early 18th Century

length 91,5 cm.
Curved, single-and short false-edged blade, pitting at the tip, the surface with remains of damascus design and a halo at the forte (sign of old repair?), featuring on the right side an emblem engraved in dots with a repeated geometric figure similar to a triskelion. Brass quillon with short button-headed quillons, provided with langets. The grip is covered with thick fish skin (small missing parts) and is slightly countercurved. Brass cap with engraved frame. Scabbard probably made of earlier wood, covered with grey leather, with brass mounts decorated with engravings similar to the cap's frame, two bands with iron lugs. Rare. Near Eastern area, probably Armenia or Circassia, but swords of this type were very popular alsp in Poland.
