Persia
length 35.5 cm.
Double-edged, curved blade of fine dark damask, strong ribbing in the middle, finely carved at the base with a lion hunting an antelope and hare (all in bas-relief). Double "T" grip made of walrus tooth. Wooden scabbard covered with red velvet and with engraved and pierced silver mounts with floral and geometric motifs, the central element worked with excellent filigree of typical Turkish style; the cap on the front side with a monogram "MV" (or AW), probably applied in later times.
