Having passed away at just 28 years of age, Gesmar was one of the most creative and innovative music hall designers of the 20th century, who revolutionized the art of costume and poster art for theatre. With the astonishing and passionate use of colours, the capacity for synthesis combined with the graphic virtuosity of his creations, Gesmar developed a style that will forever be associated with the glories of the golden age of music hall. His graphic art influenced entire generations of artists.
