Original illustration made by Albertarelli for Novella II of Day IX of "The Decameron" by Giovanni Boccaccio, published for the first time by Ed. d'Arte à la Chance du Bibliophile in 1955. After Boccasile's death in 1952, when he was unable to finish the work, the publisher entrusted the missing plates to Rino Albertarelli, Giulio Bertoletti, Giorgio De Gasperi and Walter Molino. In this novella entitled "The Abbess and the Priest's Pants" a young nun, Isabetta, has the habit of furtively welcoming her lover into her cell in the monastery at night. One night, the other nuns discover her and immediately rush to report the matter to Abbess Usimbarda. The latter is considered by everyone to be a saint and good woman, both inside and outside the monastery. However, the abbess herself finds herself with her lover, a priest. In her haste to hurry, instead of a veil, she puts her lover's underpants (breeches) on her head. Slight abrasions on the edges. Very rare. Signed.
