Finarte inaugurates the new headquarters in Palazzo Capranica del Grillo in Rome with three days entirely dedicated to Modern and Contemporary Art.

At the opening of the first day of auctions, we present some important works from the private collection of Guglielmo Battistoni who, in a climate of rebirth after the war, opened his tailoring atelier in 1947 in Rome, in via Condotti 61, starting to furnish it until from the beginning with works of modern art, his passion.

Some of the works are still in situ, while those at auction on May 18 form an interesting part of his personal collection.

The emblematic wooden sculpture by Pietro Consagra Forma 1 (176 cm high), a historically important work, exhibited in all the major exhibitions dedicated to the Gruppo Forma 1 and its artists (Accardi, Consagra, Dorazio, Perilli , Sanfilippo and Turcato); Also part of the collection is a beautiful painting by Carlo Carrà with the iconic Capanno sul mare, also from 1947, flagships of the collection, two extraordinary paintings by Giuseppe Capogrossi, Ragazzo con anfora from 1938 and Nudo femminile from 1940, donated from Capogrossi himself to his friend Guglielmo Battistoni, two paintings still belonging to the artist's figurative phase and increasingly rare to find on the market. A precious drawing by Willem De Kooning witnessing the cultural importance of Rome for many foreign artists who, especially from the United States, came to the capital between the 1950s and 1960s to pass through or to settle there, engines of a fruitful and mutual exchange of stimuli among artists of all nationalities.
