Folio album (490 x 365 mm) containing 32 full-page engravings from the caricatures of Pier Leone Ghezzi, 1 caricature of Annibale Carracci depicting "The Two Philosophers", 1 of Antoine Watteau and 2 of Carlo Maratta. Half leather binding with corners and brown cloth, red leather binding with gold title on the spine with 5 raised bands, gilt edges, defects on the headband. Bookplate on the back cover: WE Hope Vere Craigie Hall - Libreria Pregliasco, Turin.

The success and diffusion in Europe of Pier Leone Ghezzi's caricature drawings can be traced back to the 1720s and 1740s, a period coinciding with the Painter's greatest dedication to the »Mondo Novo«, or to the types and figures of Roman society of his time and to the European society of the Grand Tour or diplomacy.
