Portrait of the author within an oval on the frontispiece of the first volume, numerous full-page plates outside the text depicting episodes from the works contained in the various volumes, scattered foxing and damp patches on some volumes, light browning. Bound in half parchment and marbled paper, title and author within a leather insert on the smooth spine. In the uniformly bound lot, the 3 volumes of the Posthumous Works , published in Vienna by the Alberti printing house in 1795, intended to form the supplement to the Paris edition.
Fine edition, with frontispiece engraved on copper by CS Gaucher based on a design by Steiner and plates finely engraved by Bartolozzi, Carmona, Duclos, Picart and others based on a design by Cipriani, Cochin, Moreau and Martini.
