Venice, [printer of the Marziale of 1480], 1480. In 2°. 223 leaves (of 224, missing the last leaf, E6, blank), manuscript title on a1r paper, spaces for initials, frequent marginal glosses, maniculae and marginal interventions in the text, reinforcement on the internal margin of a1r paper with parchment sheet, small damp stains on the lower margin, more evident on the last leaves, 18th century parchment binding with manuscript title on 3-ribbed spine, loss of parchment in the lower part of the spine. Old manuscript ownership note on a1r paper.
Specialist Notes
Ninth edition of the Epigrams of Martial, the first containing the commentary of Domizio Calderini: the two works had in fact been printed separately in 1474. The printer of this edition, unidentified and remained anonymous, produced two other editions, again in Venice and in 1480, with the Epistolae ad familiares of Cicero and the Satyrae of Persius.
