Florence, All'insegna della Stella, 1664. In 4°. Title page in red and black with the Crusca frullone, slight marginal foxing, otherwise perfect copy, contemporary binding in half green leather and marbled cardboard, defects, partly detached from the body of the volume.

Specialist Notes

First edition (printing with the Crusca enterprise engraved in copper on the frontispiece) of Redi's first work, which constitutes the first methodical study on snake venom and marks the beginning of experimental toxicology.
