Etching, 1767, 68x78.5 cm (with frame). In the center, view of Piazza del Campo with the Palio race, at the bottom left, detail of portico with lighting decorations, at the bottom center, view of garden with figures, at the bottom right, chariot for celebrations. Browning, humidity stains, small gaps.
Specialist Notes
Zocchi came to Siena in 1767 to depict the celebrations organized in honor of Pietro Leopoldo; on that occasion he created the drawing for the engraving by Antonio Cioci depicting the Palio race that took place that year. see file no. cat. gen. 0900367855.
