Nice set of correspondence from politicians and intellectuals, including foreigners, addressed to Costantino Nigra (1828-1907), Count of Villa Castelnuovo, philologist, poet, diplomat and Italian politician. In total 10 documents including letters and notes, plus an eleventh fragment of the Neapolitans of 1799 by Pietro Cossa.
Nice set of correspondence addressed to Nigra, who was also an illustrious exponent of Freemasonry. Nigra had been regularized at the Ausonia lodge in Turin in February 1860. He was elected grand master of the Grand Orient of Italy on 3 October 1861 a few months after Cavour's death, but, in November of the year following that, he renounced the position.
