Specialist Notes

Very rare original edition, the second and only two years later.
Giuseppe Maria Galanti was one of Genovesi's best disciples and was considered "the best historical-political genius of his time. No one could therefore perform the first analysis of his master's thoughts better than him just three years after his death. The second part contains the response to the poisonous and slanderous accusations that Fra' Tommaso Maria Malachi brought to Genovesi for his adherence to the Enlightenment current that preached the elimination of church franchises. One of the most interesting sources on the life and works of the Salerno economist. The essay, which received the applause of Voltaire, D'Alembert and Isidoro Bianchi among others, was initially opposed by the Neapolitan ecclesiastical culture and saw the light only thanks to the Secretary of State De Marco, a historic friend of Genovesi. (See Einaudi, Cossa, Costabile-Patalano).
