Specialist Notes

Second edition of this classic on the Lombardy lakes, richer and more detailed than the first.

In the introduction Amoretti writes that, after the publication of the "Journey to the three lakes" of 1794, "received many requests from both nationals and foreigners, who, eager to see the pleasant and instructive things that the Upper Milanese area and its surroundings present, until then were forced to ask the servant in the square for addresses, advice and news, to the postillion, to the boatman: and therefore many important things they did not see or saw badly." This second edition, completely redone and doubled compared to the first, was reprinted until 1824 (VI edition), always with improvements and additions.
