Engraved architectural title page, with 38 double-page copper-engraved numbered plates at the end of the volume, engravings in the text, ornate initials, friezes and headers, some handwritten notes, large lack on the title page compensated with manuscript paper, restoration on the lower external corner of all leaves, slightly trimmed edges, light browning, some small stains, contemporary binding in rigid parchment, missing parts, defects.

Edition published in Frankfurt, at the same time as the second Parisian edition (the first dates back to 1600). It is the first treatise in French dedicated to bastion fortification and its architecture: it earned Errard the title of "father of French fortification".
