Specialist Notes

In Morato's dedication to Bernardino Mazolino from Ferrara we read how he contributed with this operetta to the "young scholars of the vernacular language" having been the "Author of putting together all the rhymes of Dante and Petrarch declaring many of their logos always citing the chapters , in Petrarch's folios, & because the greatest number of Petrarch's contexts are in the eighth folio, I have signed the numbers above those... I am certain that this effort of mine will be of great use to everyone who will have it with them because not only will it help him with admirable readiness to write vulgar verses, but by doing other things it will teach him the way of writing vulgar and doubling the consonants and simply inscribing them, and will give him many other precepts pertinent to the language (...)."
