Specialist Notes

Famous and highly sought after monograph on the Savoy palace, which is only today being saved from ruin, one of the rarest Piedmontese books and among the most refined concerning the art of hunting. The text is in the form of a dialogue between the author, architect and first ducal engineer, and Cavalier Bernini. The plates engraved by Tasniere from the originals by Baroncelli, Sacchetti and Mielle are beautiful, depicting the architecture of Castellamonte, the gardens, the magnificent hunting scenes as well as the paintings conceived at the time for the decoration of the ducal residence.
Schwerdt I,98: "Copies of this book, with complete plates, are difficult to find"; Cicognara 3982: "Very beautiful book".
