Specialist Notes
First edition, volume IV only. Magnificent work published for the first time in 1781 - 1786. A great lover of art Jean-Claude-Richard Saint-Non (1727-1791) devoted himself to drawing and engraving, perfecting himself in etching and 'aquatint. He traveled to England and Italy, his friendship with Fragonard and Hubert Robert prompted the artist to transcribe sketches and drawings of views and landscapes in aquatint. Returning to France, he tackled the illustration of the Voyage Pittoresque de Naples et de Sicile always in etching. Cohen-Ricci 928-930. Brunet V, 55-56: “Un des premiers beaux ouvrages de ce genre qui ait paru en France”.
