SPLENDID MANUSCRIPT LULLIAN, RARE AND INTRIGANT.
Art for Llull is a "general science applicable to all knowledge with very general principles in which the principle is contained of the particular sciences, as the particular in the universal". Art, therefore, starting from the principles of flavor (depicted with symbols, especially alphabetical) and combining them according to combinatorial and mnemonic methods (wheels and mobile figures), wants to establish analytic-synthetic reasoning of absolute evidence, such as mathematical reasoning. The influence of Lullian logic was very wide up to the entire Renaissance linked to encyclopaedic and mnemotechnical programs.
The Catalan monk Ramon Lull (1235-1316 ) develops and perfects over the years what in its intentions would be an infallible tool for demonstrating theological truths, of universal use because «universal is mathematical combinatorics which articulates its plane of expression, and universal is the system of common ideas to all the peoples that Llull elaborates in terms of content". Lullo fixes the logical-functional mechanism of Ars, the combinatory. The memorization of the structural components of the system is essential for the use of this logic device. The mnemonic lulliana breaks away from the classic-rhetorical tradition of artificial memory.
