Masterpiece ofin the typography of the century XVIII, with chalcographic text and a rich iconographic apparatus engraved in copper by John Pine including: 2 vignettes on the title pages, 324 figures, vignettes and finials, 27 headers and 164 drop caps. This copy is part of the second edition of the first edition, as can be deduced from the wording on page. 108 of vol. II: the medallion says "potest", instead of the incorrect "post est".Brunet III,320; Cohen-de Ricci 497: "Ouvrage très recherché, auquel il ne manque plus de connaissance de l'antique pour le dessin des medailles".
