Padua, Paolo Frambotto, 1638. In 4th, (14cc, u.b), 144pp; . (4cc), 54pp (u.b.);  (6cc), 80pp. The three parts each have their own title page, editorial brand with Minerva extending her right arm towards an olive tree and holding a shield with her left. Motto on a ribbon (first part Pacis opus, second and third parts Oliva Minervae). Woodcut initials and friezes, numerous woodcut illustrations. Coeval full vellum binding, handwritten title on spine.

Specialist Notes

The first study of the Egyptian flora, compiled by the Venetian botanist and scientist Prospero Alpini  (Marostica, 23 November 1553 - Padua, 23 November 1616). There are described 57 types of plants personally observed by Alpini, of which 49 are illustrated. Among the plants described: coffee, banana and baobab.
