(At the Colophon:) Argentorati (Strasbourg) in aedibus Schureianis Ann. MDVI (1506) XII Kal. April 1506. In 4th, 100 cc. not numbered. Half parchment binding, calligraphic title. Ownership note on the title page by Gian Pietro Muratori, (Cavalese 1708-1792, parish priest of Isera from 1746 to 1790).
Rare edition, not mentioned by Brunet from Graesse, in a copy of interesting provenance: the eighteenth-century library of the Cavalese parish priest Gian Pietro Muratori, recently studied (Gian Pietro Muratori's library in Cavalese, Trento, 2006). The De excellentibus ducibus exterarum gentium generally in the ancient manuscripts does not bear the name of Cornelius Nepos, but that of Aemilius Probus. Only in the sixteenth century, after in-depth studies and research, was the work definitively attributed to Cornelius Nepos due to some allusions scattered throughout the story, as well as its language and style, and it is believed that Aemilius Probus was only a simple copyist of the century. IV.
