Autograph and signed letter of a page in 4°. 300 x 205 mm., addressed to Monsignor Francesco Zambeccari, Archdeacon of S. Petronio in Bologna. Dated Modena, 20 August 1740. Traces of a sealing wax seal.
Canon and primicerio of the chapter of the basilica of S. Petronio in Bologna (1682 - 1767), Francesco Maria Zambeccari was no less a character in eighteenth-century Bologna. Member of the Clementine Academy, he formed friendships with the major thinkers and intellectuals of Bologna but not only. In the letter Muratori shares the joy of the election to the papal throne of Cardinal Lambertini, the future Pope Benedict XIV, elected to the throne just three days earlier, on 17 August. Through him, Muratori tries to get back in touch with a Neapolitan abbot who was a gentleman of the Cardinal, whose name he has forgotten. The rest of the letter denounces Muratori's movements aimed at establishing profitable diplomatic and relational contacts with the new Papal Court.
