Lucca, Jacopo Giusti, 1766. In 8°, 45pp, (1c). Coeval hardcover binding. Unreadable handwritten title on spine.
Famous neurologist and biologist, Felice Fontana (1730-1805) was one of the most influential microscopists of his time. In this treatise he refutes the hypothesis that red blood cells were ring-shaped, demonstrating that they are instead of a non-stable spherical shape but can change under certain conditions, for example during the crossing of the blood vessel.
