Engraved frontispiece, 1 portrait of the author by George Virtue most and 67 full-page plates mostly by Gerard van der Gucht after drawings by John Vanderban < /span>(26 in vol. I and 41 in vol. II), with a Supplement to the Translator's Preface by William Warburton and Advertisement concerning the Prints by John Oldfield, small tear without loss restored on frontispiece, light browning, some light foxing and small stains, some plates slightly trimmed, later half leather binding, gilt title on spine, minor defects.
First edition of the translation by Charles Jarvis, considered one of the most accurate, enriched by 68 beautiful full-page plates, including the author's portrait.
