Portrait engraved in copper, double frontispiece, the first reproduces the recto of the 1527 edition, the second on the reverse, bears the actual indication of the typographical data of the reprint, woodcut initials, missing the frontispiece, portrait slightly burnished, coeval morocco binding, plates framed by a gold frame, title within a red label on the spine with 5 raised bands with friezes, gilt edges, decorated paper endpapers, very slight defects. § Leopardi, Giacomo; Petrarca, Francesco, The rhymes of Francesco Petrarca, Florence, David Passigli, 1839. Specialist Notes
I work: Rare reprint of the century. XVIII edited by Paolo Rolli of the famous edition of the Decameron called "ventisettana" published by Giunti in 1527. This edition established the canon of Boccaccia's text, which remained unchanged until the edition of 1761 by Manelli. The ventisettetana is also known for its symbolic value: many of those who worked on its publication perished fighting against the Medici, the edition therefore became a symbol of the freedom of the Florentine Republic.
