Parma, in the royal palace, 1796. In the 4th large. Numerous corrections to the text, few halos, original binding  in brown calfskin, fillet frames on the plates, spine with four compartments with black and red leather inserts with gold titles, some stains and small losses. At the counter  front ownership signature of "Francesco Testa Vicentino".

Specialist Notes

Original edition of Sophocles' masterpiece in copy used by Luigi Lamberti, translator of the work, to revise the text.  On  leaflet the annotation in an old hand "Corrections are autographed by Lamberti".  Printed dedication to Prince Augustus Frederick Hanover, Duke of Sussex. It precedes a Greek epigram by Francesco Fontana with the Italian version at the bottom. Brooks, n. 634.
