Rome, Appresso Lodovico Grignani, 1645. In 2° oblong. 280x218mm. booklet measurements, Splendid plan of the city of Brescia, etching of 240 x 182 mm., with a rich legend relating to squares, towers, churches and notable monuments, followed by two descriptive maps of the city of Brescia, its territory, lakes and rivers, illustrious men and noble families.
Specialist Notes
Very rare ancient plan of the city of Brescia, dedicated by Lauro to Pietro Farnese, Duke of Latera and Lord of Farnese. Defined in the dedication with the verses of Virgil, "Magnorum genetrix animosa Virorum", or even "Inclita mother of Heroes, more prolific than Warlike Champions, than that famous Trojan Horse". The plan derives from the model by Donato Rascicotti (1599) and more directly from the replica by Giovanni Orlandi of 1608.
