Specialist Notes
François Valleriola (Montpellier, 1504 - Turin, 1580) studied philosophy in Paris and medicine in Montpellier, practiced in Valence, then in Arles. In 1572 the Duke of Piedmont appointed him holder of the first chair of the University of Turin. "The works published by him are remarkable both for their erudition and for the judicious observations they contain." (L. Hahn, Dictionnaire Encyclopédique des sciences medicale).
