The Florentine publisher Le Monnier, having to complete the edition of the Works started in 1845, decided to buy the inventories of the original edition published by Baundry in Paris in 1842. Compared to this original print he replaced the yellow paperback in pink and added to the front plate the notice "To the Works of Giacomo Leopardi printed in Florence in the year 1845 in three volumes for the types of Felice Le Monnier is necessary to complement this poem in eight songs entitled Paralipomeni della Batracomiomachia.
