[Paris, Pleyel, undated but 1802]. Paper tag pasted on typographic data: Lione, Alday, s.d. & nbsp; In 2nd. 4 vols. of 8. Calligraphic title pages and parts for the strings (violin 1, violin 2, bass and alto) completely engraved by Richomme, some flourishes, and some spots, vintage ligatures in blue half leather, title and friezes on the smooth spine & nbsp; geometric, small defects, peeling. A manuscript ex libris and a Bloc stamp on the title page. & Nbsp;

First collective edition of Haydn's string quartets dedicated to Napoleon First Consul. The artist became famous thanks to compositions for string quartets. This edition includes only 80 quartets as indicated in a 1801 letter from Haydn to the editor. & Nbsp; & nbsp;
