Specialist Notes

Italian translation of the work "Instructions sur le faict de la guerre" erroneously attributed to G. du Bellay (Cfr .: Dictionnaire de biographie française, XIV, col. 878-879). The author of this work, one of the most important studies on military art of the sixteenth century, is actually Raymond de Fourquevaux (1509-1574), who participated in the war of Savoy, was sent to Spain on a diplomatic mission and in 1557 he was governor of Narbonne. As a result of his experiences in battle he wrote this treatise then falsely attributed to the famous historian Guillaume du Bellay in the editions of 1553, 1592, in this Italian and English translation of 1589. & nbsp;
