Specialist Notes
Rare first edition, of one of the few books printed by Robert Granjon in Rome. Guidetti was of & nbsp; pupil of Giovanni da Palestrina. The latter, commissioned by Gregory XIII to review the services of the Roman Church, involved him in such a delicate task, since he had an intimate knowledge of the musical manuscripts preserved both in St. Peter's and in the other churches of Rome. & Nbsp; I started in 1576 and ran until 1581. The resulting book was published in 1582 . & nbsp; & nbsp; Adams, L990; BUC, p.410.
