Specialist Notes
This is the description of the Chapel of the Princes in San Lorenzo in Florence. The sumptuous octagonal room was designed by Cosimo I, but its realization is due to his successor Ferdinando I, who commissioned the architect Matteo Nigetti in 1604. The dazzling splendor is given by the very rich inlays in Florentine commesso, for the realization of which it was created the Opificio delle Pietre Stones.
