Cologne [Palermo, Francesco Cichè], 1721. In 4th. 2 parts in 1 vol. With 3 folded tables, woodcut friezes, small and slight halo on the title page, slight marginal blooms, tables with reinforcements, some woodworm holes on the table "Plan of the siege of the citadel of Messina", missing the last white paper, coeval binding in parchment, slight defects. Handwritten annotations on the guard card, paper ex libris on the counterplate.

Specialist Notes

First edition. Rare work that deals with the dynamics that, following the Treaty of Utrecht, led to the war between Spain and France and the events that took place in the Messina area between 1719-20 which ended with the expulsion of the Spaniards. With three beautiful folded tables made by the publisher Francesco Cichè depicting: the battle of Francavilla, the siege of Messina and the troop encampments at Arenella near Palermo.
