Specialist Notes

First edition in French. & nbsp; Antonio Scarpa (Motta di Livenza, Treviso 1752 - Pavia 1832) famous Italian doctor and surgeon,
pupil of Morgagni, taught at the universities of Modena and Pavia. In addition to having made fundamental innovations in the field of surgical technique, Scarpa was famous for his activity as an anatomist researcher. Particular merit was that of having made ophthalmology an independent discipline.
"This authorative work on hernia, from which are derived the epynoms Scarpa's fascia and Scarpa's triangle of the thigh, is enhanced by the ten life- size plates artistically drawn by Scarpa himself, depicting the operation and anatomical sections "( Heirs of Hippocrates ).
