Specialist Notes

An antiquity scholar, philologist and theologian, Antonio Francesco Gori (Florence 1691 - there 1757) was professor of History in the Florentine Studio and founder of the Colombarian Academy. He collaborated with famous scholars and writers of his time even outside Florence and distinguished himself as the author and curator of numerous works. He developed particular interest in the Etruscan world by collecting a substantial material of Etruscology in his writings.
