Specialist Notes
Very rare first edition. Although in this edition there are no specific bibliographic data (author, date, place and printer), the authorship of both the text and the illustrations is to be attributed to the Dominican friar Alberto da Castello (ca. 1460-1522). It is also identified as & nbsp; author - or publisher - in the preliminary pages that report the license, granted in 1521 by the Inquisition of Venice. The text of the license is printed on the reverse of l. Ae, and on the recto of l. A2. An edition followed after a year, with exactly the same layout and number of prints, with the following signature: "Venetia: for Marchio Sessa et Piero di Rauani, 1522". However, not enough elements have yet been identified to ascribe this first edition to the same printers.
