Specialist Notes
Outstanding cartoonist, Albert Dubout (Marseille 1905-Saint Aunes 1976) conditioned two generations with fifty years of illustrations: his large and crowded tables had a strong influence on Jacovitti's training as well. His first drawings were published in 1923 in the student newspaper "L'écho des étudiants". Later the writer Philippe Soupault commissioned him to illustrate the first book published by his publishing house "Les Embarras de Paris." He exhibited numerous paintings at the Salon des humoristes, collaborated with various newspapers, magazines, numerous editions of books and even official texts. distinguished by his caricatured characters, small men with hats accompanied by curvy women and by his shaped stroke, he also produced advertising and theatrical posters.
