Two fine Lyonnais editions of the & nbsp; Syntaxes artis mirabilis , (1578). A sort of encyclopedia of scientific knowledge in which the French jurist, philosopher and encyclopedist Pierre Gregoire (1540-1597) intertwines science and mathematics with demonology, magic and astrology. The book was soon put on the index. The work met with considerable success.
