In 4 °. & nbsp; Letterpress engraved in wood on the title page, numerous illustrations and woodcut diagrams, small tear without loss in the lower white margin of the title page, slight halo at the upper margin of the first cards and at the inner margin of the last issues, some rare stains and slight flowering, few cards with very light bluing, tear without loss at Nn6, coeval parchment binding, handwritten author on the spine, small gap in the spine, some photos of woodworm, defects. Paper ex libris on the counterplate, signature of belonging to the title page

First Italian edition. The work collects for the first time in Italy Fineo's works on arithmetic, geometry, cosmography, sundials and mirrors, enriched by numerous illustrations, tables, diagrams. Phineus (1494 - 1555) was a mathematician and cartographer, first holder of the chair of mathematics at the Collége de France in 1530. The lunar crater Orontius and the & nbsp; Finaeus Cove in Antarctica are dedicated to him, in honor of his theory on existence to the south pole of a vast continent called the Southern Land. & nbsp;
