Specialist Notes
First rare edition of the famous Emili story of France. The date, missing in the printed edition, is deduced from a letter by Erasmus of Rotterdam to Budé (written in Antwerp in February 1516) in which the Dutch philosopher (who had previously been in contact with Emili in Paris) stated that having become aware of the publication of the work, also claiming to be certain that it was an excellent work, done by a learned and diligent man over the course of over twenty years.
