Specialist Notes

Rare edition, printed in the same year as the first, published in Rome by Ignazio Lazzari. The treatise focuses on magnetism in nature but also on the role it plays in the relational and sentimental life of human beings, who act on the basis of the principle of attraction and repulsion. According to Kircher, magnetism resides at the heart of most natural phenomena and allows for the deepest understanding. & Nbsp; & nbsp;
Jesuit scholar and outstanding representative of seventeenth-century encyclopedism, Athanasius Kircher (Geisa 1602 - Rome 1680 ) devoted himself to the study of the most disparate topics ranging from mathematics to music, from exotic civilizations to geology, from the interpretation of Egyptian hieroglyphs to optics, magnetism, microbiology, technology. Eclectic interests led him to collect artifacts of classical, Christian, Oriental and South American civilization: his rich collections made up the Kircherian Museum in the Roman College. Compared to Leonardo Da Vinci, he published numerous works relating to various fields of interest that earned him European fame. His heart is still preserved at the sanctuary of Mentorella & nbsp;
