Rinaldi in loose sheet of the basilica plan with handwritten annotations, woodworm work in the inner margin, light millstone of water at the lower edge of some cards and at the outer edge of the last cards, bluing and blooms, more intense on some cards, small tears on some tables, coeval parchment binding, with coat of arms imprinted on the front plate framed by double frame, title manuscript on the spine, gilded cuts, slight defects. & nbsp;
First edition. The story on the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano was dedicated by the canon Rasponi to the new pontiff Alexander VII who later elected him cardinal as a sign of gratitude for his offices. It is a single edition "work full of historical erudition performed with diligence" (Cicognara). Noteworthy are the elegantly carved allegorical title page by Giuseppe Testana and the engraved copper plates designed by Giuseppe Belloni, together with the valuable engraving by Louis Rouhier of the large table of the Orthographia. & Nbsp;
