Specialist Notes
Baron Hector Gariod (also Garriod, 1803-1883) was a famous art dealer, born in Savoy and lived all his life in Florence. The correspondence takes place over two periods: the first 13 letters between 1838 and '48, the last ones are apparently all from 1864, sent from Cannero, one of his last residences. The content of the letters is personal, a sign of a deep friendship, but also professional: it speaks of paintings, of important authors such as Vanvitelli, and even of the Madonna della Seggiola by Raphael. Interesting core, all to be studied. & Nbsp; & nbsp;
