Paris, Pierre Didot, 1802. In the 2nd. One eye, front door and frontispiece finely etched on a drawing by Cassas, a folded geographical map of Istria and Dalmatia, 63 intaglio plates protected by tissue paper, including two folded geographical maps, elegant engraved headboards, a few slight bluing, slight water gore on the lower inner margin of some files, rare small stains, one-page restoration, small tear on the outer margin of pag. 157, coeval binding in marbled leather, plates framed by a gold frame, title stamped in gold within a red gusset, phytomorphic friezes, gold dentelle, golden cuts, slight peeling, slight defects.

First edition. Splendid specimen that tells and illustrates the journey, promoted by "une societe d'amateurs des beaux arts", which led the painter and archaeologist Louis François Cassas (1756 - 1827) to discover the antiquities of Istria and Dalmatia in 1782. original watercolors are kept at the & nbsp; Victoria and Albert Museum.
