With 25 heliotypes out of the text and 123 plates in the text, two lithographic plates depicting the transport and urban heating systems, all protected by original tissues, binding in blond calfskin, back with 3 nerves, to the author's compartments, title and frieze imprinted in gold, some scratches on the dishes and slight lacks.

First French edition of Andersen's utopian vision of urban philosophy. Our copy is number XXXIV of only LXXV copies printed on papier Japon . Powerful work & nbsp; written with Ernest Hébrard, it represents the evolution of Andersen's previous writing, The fountain of Life. & nbsp; The core of Andersen's work consisted in the belief that art, and especially monumental art, could bring peace and harmony. The project called for the creation of a world capital. The city would be: an overwhelming fountain of knowledge to be nurtured by the efforts of the whole world in art, science, religion, commerce, industry and law; in exchange it would spread knowledge to all humanity as if it were an immense, divine organism conceived by God, the vital requirement that would maintain its strength, protect its rights and allow it to reach new heights through a concentration of the efforts of all world . & nbsp; The work anticipates the modernist visions of & nbsp; Le Corbusier in the & nbsp; Ville Contemporaine of 1922.
