Edizione originale, contenente la seconda edizione di "Della cause della grandezza e magnificenza della città". Botero scrisse questo trattato sul governo in contrapposizione a Machiavelli. L'opera fu subito ristampata a Roma, Torino e Milano e tradotta in molte lingue. Nel trattato sulla magnificenza delle città Botero propone considerazioni sulla popolazione che sono ora considerate anticipazioni dei principi malhtusiani. Adams B2548; Gamba 1271; Kress 178.
