[8], 288 pages, complete with the editorial announcement on the first card, scattered light blooms, binding of the period in polychrome marbled soft cardboard preserved in a shagreen shirt and green leather with plates decorated with embossed and gold impressions, case in hardcover and leather, some peeling.
Original edition, in bearded copy complete with the editorial announcement on the first card. Adelchi is the second of the two tragedies written by Manzoni, subsequent to the Count of Carmagnola (1820) and dating back to the period 1820-1822: it is set in northern Italy in 772-774 AD. and narrates the events that led to the descent of Charlemagne's Franks and the defeat of Desiderio, the last king of the Lombards, of whom Adelchi is the son.
