Montbéliard, Jacques Foillet and Lazarus Zetzner, 1593. In 8th. Woodblock mark on the title page and xylographic illustrations in the text, friezes and initials engraved in wood, 3 volvelle to be completed with the parts printed on paper () 8, the 2 final white cards C3-4 are missing, bluing, more intense on some cards, reddening and blooms, tear at the lower external corner of q2, coeval parchment binding, manuscript author and title on the spine, some slight halo. Ex libris on the front counterplate. & Nbsp;

Specialist Notes

Important work on cryptography. Della Porta is remembered mainly because he introduces a new use of the keyword, which is preserved over time: it makes each letter of the keyword correspond to a single letter of the plain text.
