Specialist Notes

First edition, extremely rare, of Fonseca's account of the conversion, apostasy and expulsion of the "Moors" from Valencia, as well as from all of Castile, Catalonia and Aragon, translated into Italian from the original Spanish-language manuscript. The Author, a Dominican of Portuguese origin who settled in Valencia, was sent to Rome to influence the opinion of the Church in favor of expulsion, which is why the first edition of the work, based on the original manuscript, is, in fact, in Italian (in 1612 the first edition in Spanish was published in Rome by the same publisher).
